Four Injured in Crash in Marion County Construction Zone

A road construction vehicle was struck head-on in a construction zone in Marion County Tuesday afternoon.

 

According to a release from the Marion Post of the Ohio State Patrol, 38 year old Krista Cole was traveling north in the right lane of U.S. 23 in the construction zone.

 

Her and a crew member were picking up cones while displaying overhead flashing lights on the vehicle.

 

34 year old Justin Walter, of Marion, was driving south on 23 and traveled into the closed right lane striking the construction vehicle head on.

 

Walter and two passengers in his car were all taken by helicopter to Grant Medical Center in Columbus with non-life threatening injuries.

 

Another passenger in the car was flown to OSU Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

 

An infant child in the car was not injured.

 

Cole was treated for minor injuries. Her passenger was not injured.

 

The crash remains under investigation.

 

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio Department of Transportation, Marion Township Fire Department, Fort Morrow Fire Department, 1st Consolidated EMS, Pleasant Township EMS, Marion City EMS, Mike’s Fredericktown Towing and recovery and Ed’s Towing.
