Free Lunch Program Ending After this School Year

The USDA is currently informing school districts to prepare to return to “normal operations” for school meals beginning in the 2022-2023 school year. 

The federal government has provided free lunches to all students the past 2 years, but will discontinue the plan after this school year.

While Kenton City Schools will continue to provide breakfast meals free of charge to all students next year, the free lunch plan for all students and the flexibility in meal patterns will end at the end of this school year.

This means families will pay for lunch meals according to the financial status they qualify for: free; reduced; or full pay.

Free and Reduced meal applications will be required to be eligible for reduced or free lunch meals. These applications will be available from the USDA in July. They can
