Ohio Governor Mike DeWine today announced that 35 workforce partnerships located across Ohio will receive a total of $5.1 million in awards through the Industry Sector Partnership (ISP) Grant. The program supports local or industry collaborations that help bring Ohioans into the workforce while meeting the needs of job creators and the economy.
The 35 awarded partnerships will focus on multiple in-demand industry sectors, including manufacturing, IT, transportation, and healthcare.
“The best way to ensure a community thrives is by investing in its people,” said Governor DeWine. “Over the past five years, we have made significant investments in these workforce partnerships to tackle challenges in both education and workforce development. We are investing in collaboration so more opportunities can be created for Ohioans.”
Industry Sector Partnerships are designed to develop regional workforce strategies, with the goal of driving collaboration between local businesses, education and training providers, and community stakeholders. These grants will help support the operations of both new and existing Industry Sector Partnerships around Ohio.
“Our investment in workforce development is an investment in the future of Ohio’s communities and the well-being of our families,” said Lydia Mihalik, director of the Ohio Department of Development. “The Industry Sector Partnerships program drives innovative workforce solutions, strengthens key industries, and equips Ohioans with the tools to build rewarding careers, positioning Ohio for long-term success.”
Since 2019, Ohio has invested in 63 Industry Sector Partnerships in all pockets of the state. The first four rounds of the Industry Sector Partnership Grant program awarded 41 partnerships a total of $12.5 million.
