On his final day at the Ohio Statehouse this week, Representative Jon Cross and his family watched as Governor Mike DeWine signed his 14th and final bill into law.

The new law designates the portion of State Route 273 that runs directly in front of Ridgemont High School as the Major David McGue Memorial Highway.

Born and raised in Kenton, Major McGue was a 1989 graduate of Ridgemont, a 1998 graduate of The Ohio State University, and a 2002 graduate of Findlay University.

He served a combined 32 years of military service between the U.S. Airforce and the Army National Guard, and later served as a physician’s assistant for the Veterans Administration in Marion.

Major McGue tragically passed away on August 22, 2021.
