Hancock County Sheriff’s Office Issues Scam Warning

The Hancock Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a scam involving persons claiming to be the head of security for Amazon.  

The caller is claiming the victim’s Amazon account had been hacked and they must pay a fee to reactivate their account. 

The caller requests the reactivation fee be paid for by purchasing gift cards in large amounts.  

The victim is then required to call the scammer back with account information for the gift cards.

This is a scam, and you should not give any personal or financial information to these people.
