The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office released a scam warning yesterday stating they have received information that people are receiving phone calls from someone claiming to be one of their Lieutenants.
The caller then claims the person has missed a court date and, in some cases, are asking for money. The Sheriff’s office stated that this is a scam and that they do not make calls of this nature.
They remind residents to not give out any personal information or send money. They also stated that residents do not need to call their office unless a person has given out any information or given money to the scammers.
