Hardin County Clerk of Courts Carrie Haudenschield is reminding residents about changes for notary public applications and renewals.

The Notary Public Modernization Act was signed by then Governor John Kasich in December of 2018.

The act shifts the application, recording, renewal and discipline of notary commissions from Common Pleas Court to the Ohio Secretary of State.

Effective August 30, 2019, you will no longer be able to apply for or renew your notary at the Hardin County Clerk of Courts Office.

For further guidance on how to process your Notary Public Application or renewal, or if you have any questions, contact the Ohio Secretary of State’s Office at 614-644-4559.
