Hardin County JFS Announces Back to School Clothing Program

KENTON, OHIO – The Hardin County Department of Job and Family Services announced today they will be launching a countywide back to school clothing program for eligible Hardin County families beginning today, Wednesday, July 28th.

“To be eligible families must reside in Hardin County, have children enrolled in grades PreK-12 and be at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty level. For a family of four, that’s right around $53,000 a year,” stated John Folk, Hardin County JFS Director.

Families or children who are determined to be eligible for the program will receive a voucher for $300 per child from Job and Family Services for clothing. The vouchers are good for clothing, shoes, boots, coats, undergarments, socks, winter hats and gloves.

The voucher can only be used at participating stores which are Maurices, Kenton location and Kohl’s, Lima location.

Applications can be picked up between Wednesday, July 28th and Thursday, August 5th at Hardin County Job and Family Services, 175 W. Franklin St., Suite 150, Kenton. Applications and all verifications will need to be returned between August 9th – 12th by 4:30pm on the 12th.

Applicants will receive a phone call notifying them if they have been approved. Those approved for the program will receive instructions on how and when to pick up vouchers.

Shopping will be August 16th through August 21st. Vouchers must be redeemed by August 21st.
