The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office has received several calls this week in reference to a scam.

The scam caller states that the Social Security Administration will cancel the victim’s social security number because they are facing charges in Texas.

The scammer claims that the victim’s vehicle was found in Texas and there were drugs in it as well as bank account information that ties the victim to drug trafficking.

The scammer then asks for the victim’s social security number and asks them to go to Lowe’s to file paperwork.

This is a scam.

Do not give your social security number, or any personal information out over the phone to persons you do not know.

If you believe you have been the victim of a scam, contact your local law enforcement agency.
