Harrod Woman Killed in Allen County Crash

A Harrod woman was killed in a crash that occurred in Allen County late Tuesday afternoon.

According to a release from the Lima Post of the Ohio State Patrol, 39 year old Monica Helms was driving east on Alger Road when a dump truck, being operated by 63 year old Kent Winegardner, of Harrod, pulled into her path from a stop sign on Lawrence Road.

Helm’s vehicle was struck by the truck and traveled off the right side of the road where it overturned.

She was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Winegardner was not injured.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on the scene by the Allen County Sheriff’s Office, Harrod/ Auglaize Fire and EMS, Minich Towing, and the Allen County Coroner.

The crash remains under investigation.
