Highlights from Ridgemont Board of Education Meeting

The highlights from the Thursday evening were provided by Ridgemont Superintendent Sally Hendrick

April 30, 2020 Board of Education Highlights:

I shared that on April 29th, Dr. Amy Acton, ordered the second amended order of the closure of all K-12 Schools in the State of Ohio stating that all school buildings that provide any kindergarten through grade twelve instruction in the State of Ohio are to remain closed to students until 11:59 p.m. on June 30, 2020.

The following motion was approved:

Motion to approve the List of Seniors for the Class of 2020 who will Graduate, May 29, 2020, provided all requirements set forth by the Local and State Boards of Education have been met:

Personnel:

The Board accepted the resignation from Brandon Watkins as Junior High Teacher, effective the end of the 2019-2020 contract. The motion to approve non-renew all winter supplemental contracts as each supplemental contract is only for one year and the winter season is complete was approved.

Operations:

The Board approved Calendar D for the 2020-2021 school year, it will be on our website https://www.ridgemont.k12.oh.us/

The 260-Day Employee Holiday Calendar for the 2020-2021 school year was also approved.

Please note-the Board approved to extend the 2020-2021 Open Enrollment deadline from May 1, 2020, to June 30, 2020. Memorandum of Understandings for College Credit Plus for Bowling Green State University and Rhodes State College were approved and the cost of credit recovery for students for the amount of $150 per class for the 2020-2021 school year (which includes the summer of 2020) were also approved.

The Board approved agreements with The Ohio State University Lima Campus to partner in student teacher experience, optional student accident insurance, a 5 year Internet Access Service Agreement with WOCO effective July 1, 2020, to June 30, 2025, an agreement with Focus 3.

An Interdistrict Contract with Midwest Regional ESC, for the 2020-2021 school year for Educational Assistants, In-School Suspension Monitor, Study Hall Monitor, Physical/Occupational Therapy and Speech Language Therapy Services, and Preschool Program Services was approved.

Due to the Governor’s Restrictions, the following memorandums of understanding were approved: a mutual intent to enter into negotiations for a successor collective bargaining agreement and that such negotiations will begin at a mutually agreeable time in the spring of 2020 and a memorandum of understanding that agrees
to distant learning through the end of the school year and to maintain current teacher evaluations and current contracts until the 2020-2021 school year. Also, a resolution was passed allowing the Superintendent and Treasurer to take any and all actions necessary to maintain educational programming for students and
provide for the safety of all students and staff during COVID-19.
