The Hardin Northern Drone Racing team will be traveling to Orlando, Florida where they’ll be competing in the Drones In School National Race Wednesday April 27 and Thursday April 28.

They will be setting up a display at this year’s Xponential Convention in the Orange County Convention Center which highlights the latest in unmanned systems and autonomous technologies.

Hardin Northern’s Drone Racing is a group of students who design, 3D print and race small remote controlled drones in First Person View.

This team is part of Hardin Northern’s Esports program and is a member of Drones In School. The team works in conjunction with HN’s STEM program through concepts and resources from our Project Lead The Way affiliation.

The team consists of Jr. High and High School students and is coached by Brian Reeves and Josh Grappy.

Students on the team are Rebekah Allen, Justin Thiel, Preston Grappy, Riley Newton, Leif Trachsel, Cody Thiel, Carl Woodruff, and Luke Price.

The “Drones in School” program focuses on teaching students about aeronautics, engineering, project management, entrepreneurship, graphic design and marketing.

This is the team’s first official season.
