A house was destroyed by fire early this morning in the 21,000 block of State Route 67.
Marseilles Fire Chief Steve Dickinson said firefighters were dispatched around 2 this morning to the house, which is owned by Nancy Barrett.
The Chief said the cause remains under investigation, but was believed to have started when a pickup truck in the garage caught on fire.
It was discovered by an off-duty deputy who was driving by and noticed the flickering of the flames.
He went to investigate and alerted Barrett.
She and her son, along with a dog, made it out safely.
They did lose some cats in the blaze.
Around 26 firefighters were on the scene until around 6 this morning and were called back around two hours later where they remained for another 4 hours due to a rekindle.
Mutual assistance was provided by fire departments from Kenton, Forest and Pitt Township.
