House in Alger Destroyed by Fire, but Occupant is Reunited with His Dog

A house was damaged by fire in Alger Wednesday afternoon.

According to Alger Fire Chief Tony Watts, firefighters were dispatched at around 1:50 to 1013 North Front Street in the village.

The attached garage contained gas cans, and it was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.

The fire spread to the house resulting in a total loss.

The lone occupant of the house was not at home at the time.

His dog was removed from the house, and was resuscitated by Alger EMS and has been reunited with his owner.

There was no damage to surrounding houses.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

Mutual assistance was provided by fire departments from Ada, McGuffey, Harrod, LaFayette and Kenton.

Firefighters were on the scene for around three hours.
