Area fire departments have been busy today battling a couple of field fires.

The latest was reported at around 3 this (Friday) afternoon, when crews were dispatched to the 6200 block of County Road 130.

There were around 70 to 80 bales of hay on fire at that location.

Residents are being advised against any controlled burns, as they can quickly get out of control.

In a special statement, the National Weather Service said there is a very high to extreme fire danger today.

The NWS Special Weather Statement is as follows:

A prolonged period without rainfall, winds gusting to 25-30 mph, relative humidity as low as 35%, and unseasonably warm temperatures have increased the threat of wildfires today.

Grasses and leaf litter are very receptive to fire. If fire is introduced, ignition is likely and fire spread will be quick.

Be aware of the potential for grass and brush fires that may quickly spread today. Call 911 if you see unattended fire. Do not burn today.
