KCS Selects Construction Company for Secondary School Project

Kenton City Schools and the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission announced they have selected Peterson Construction Company as the Construction Manager at Risk for the new middle/high school building project.

On Thursday, May 26, 2022, four construction companies presented their qualifications to the OFCC team and representatives from Kenton City Schools.

The firms presenting were: Peterson, Elford, Smoot, and Robertson Construction Companies.

Peterson Construction, a Wapakoneta based construction company, was selected based on their proven success record as well as being the lowest bid among all the companies proposals.

Peterson has an excellent reputation in Northwest Ohio for being a collaborative partner who always acts with integrity.

Superintendent Chad Thrush was excited about the selection. “We contacted several other schools that used Peterson, and they all gave glowing reviews. They also have an excellent relationship with our architect as they’ve worked very well together on some recent projects.”

The project will include the design and construction of a new 6-12 building that includes a performing arts center, as well as the renovation of part of the current high school building.

The next step in the construction process is scheduling a kickoff meeting where the District, OFCC, Garmann Miller, and Peterson Construction will lay the groundwork for roles, responsibilities, and timelines.

For the complete discussion with Superintendent Thrush, tune in Public Eye Saturday morning at 7:30 and Sunday at noon on WKTN.
