Kenton boys golf team, led by a 3rd place finish from Rocco Longbrake, ended the year and league invite with a 6th place finish. St. Mary’s won the league dual meets and also the invite Thursday with a 343.
Kenton placed 6th overall with a 366.
Rocco Longbrake paved the way in his final WBL event with a 3rd place finish overall, narrowly missing out on the two man playoff for medalist, with an 82. He also earned first team all WBL honors for the second year in a row.
Peyton Roby and Ethan Wirbel both shot 91. Roby then was awarded a honorable mention in the league, just missing out on all WBL team. Taj Chahal shot a 102, Trey Jeffries 107 and Chase Fleece 115.
“This season was a roller coaster of a season. We lost by 2 to Defiance, 4 to Wapak and 8 to Shawnee. And had some really close wins by 3 versus Elida and 4 versus Van Wert. A couple breaks our way and we could of been in contention for the overall league title. Contending for the league and getting at least one player on the WBL first team was our goal for the season. Having Peyton in contention(for first team all WBL)today, and waiting to see where he landed on points was exciting. The junior just missed out, and I’m hoping he remembers that feeling today and uses it this off season to improve and come back next year with a goal of getting on that first team,” said Coach Drew Hobensack.
Sectional play starts next Thursdsy at 9am at country Acres in Kalida.
