In last night’s meeting an ordinance was passed that allowed for the cities codified ordinances to be brought up to date with state and local codes. It was mentioned that this is an annual ordinance that ensures the city is in line with the state and local ordinances. To ensure this was done as quickly as possible the three reading rule was suspended and it was passed.

Next, a pair of ordinances had the three reading rule suspended and were passed. The first allowed the Mayor and or Safety Service director to enter agreements with OHM so that they could complete a survey on the sanitary sewer system. This was deemed necessary because of the excessive amount of water that is being sent to the water treatment plant. The second ordinance allowed funds to be moved in the budget for this project to the tune of $189,000.

Another two ordinances had the three reading rule suspended and were passed. The first allowed for AEP to install electrical facilities at the quarry. The second was to secure funds for this project to the tune of $53,349.

Finally another two ordinances were passed. The first allowed the mayor and or safety service director to enter into an agreement with the Ohio Rural Community Assistance Program to complete a utility rate study for water and sewer. The second ordinance allowed money to be transferred for this project to the tune of an even $15,000

The next meeting of the Kenton City Council will be held on Monday April 27th at 7 P.M.
