The Kenton wrestling team hosted the Titans for it’s season opener Thursday night.  Unfortunately, the Wildcats were missing a few team members and narrowly dropped the match by a score of 24 to 30.

Senior Gavin Manns and Sophomore Karson Davis were the only two Wildcats that managed to defeat an Ottawa wrestler in the Varsity matchup.  Manns, wrestling in the 175 lb weight class, took Brodie Kulman into the second period leading 10-2 before pinning him at 3:38.  Davis, however, didn’t waste anytime in his match at the 126 lbs. He pinned his opponent, Jaxon Hunter, within 1:16 in the first period.  Also scoring for the team were Anthony Hunt and Matthew Handel with wins by forfeit.  Freshman, Evan Elliott also won a match by an 18-1 Tech Fall over Caylee Verhoff in JV action.

Next week, the Wildcats travel to Elida on Thursday, Dec. 9th, to face the Bulldogs in another WBL matchup before competing in the Bucyrus Invitational on the weekend.
