Kenton High School Coed Varsity Wrestling falls to Van Wert High School 54-27

The Kenton High School Wrestling team travelled to Van Wert Thursday night in WBL action.  Despite losing the match 54-27, Kenton was able to claim victories in five of the seven contested matches.

Freshman, Harrison Brien, started the night off with a hard fought win at 120 lbs.  Brien battled Kaedyn Swander in a back in forth match where he recorded four reversals and three escapes.  Brien only recorded one takedown in the match, but it was the one that counted at the end of the match to win 13-12.

Karson Davis, wrestling at 126 lbs, followed Brien with comeback win over Devon Burke.  Davis initially gave up two takedowns and some nearfall points, but was able to score a key takedown in the second period and pin Burke at 3:04.

Senior, Aaron Modd and Junior, Anthony Hunt quickly won their matches at 144 and 150 lbs with a takedown and a pin.  Modd defeated Abram Collins at 1:43 and Hunt pinned Ethan Johnson at 1:01.  Both Modd and Hunt are 6-2 in WBL matchups this year.

Landen Elliott and Gavin Manns dropped their matches at 157 and 165 lbs, but freshman Matthew Handell closed the night with a pin victory over Breese Bollenbucher at 4:42.

The wildcats are off this weekend, but will host Lima Shawnee for its last WBL dual before the conference championships on February 11th.  Kenton will recognize their seniors at this dual meet and alumni are also invited to catch up and take a group photo at the end of the matches.
