The Kenton JROTC program has been awarded the 2022 OHSAA Exemplary Service Award for Kenton High School.

The Ohio High School Athletic Association has established an annual Exemplary Service Award to recognize Sportsmanship, Ethics and Integrity.

This award may be presented to a coach, teacher, administrator, booster, or supporter of the school program. It is an opportunity for every member high school in Ohio to honor their own with this prestigious award.

This year’s recipient is not an individual, but a group of individuals.

“This group is vital to the successful operation of our sporting events, and represents KHS with pride and professionalism.” said Kenton Athletic Director Brett Purcell.

He added, “We take pride at KHS in seeing our JROTC cadets in uniform, presenting the colors prior to our games. This is something that no other area school or WBL school has, and we are fortunate to have them.”

The JROTC program supports the athletic program through multiple acts of service.

This includes assisting with parking at football games, selling programs, and providing color guards for the events.

The Kenton JROTC program is led by Lieutenant Colonel (Ret) Christopher Fournier and Master Sergeant (Ret) David Clifford.
