The Kenton Lady Wildcats pulled away over the final nine minutes to put away a pesky Defiance team by a 4-1 count Thursday at Merold Field.
The Wildcats move to 7-3 overall and 2-2 in the Western Buckeye League while the Bulldogs slip to 1-8 overall and 1-3 in league action.
Abi Temple put the Cats ahead with a marker just over two minutes into the contest, and it stayed that way until just over 10 minutes remained in the second half when a rocket off the foot of Defiance’s Reece Rittenhouse knotted the game at 1-each.
Kenton answered less than a minute later when Avery Smith scored, and exactly two minutes after that, Kyla Bostater slipped one past the goalkeeper to make it 3-1 Kenton.
Ali Harpel rounded out the scoring with a goal as time expired for the Wildcats.
