The Kenton City Schools Board of Education officially hired Chad Thrush as the next superintendent.

At a special meeting held Wednesday evening, the Board approved a three year contract beginning August 1 and ending July 31, 2024 with a salary of $110,000.

Thrush will serve July 1 through July 31, 2021 as Interim Superintendent with a salary of just over $9300.

He has been a part of the district for 12 years, 6 of those years serving as high school principal.

Thrush will fill the role being vacated by Dr. Jennifer Penczarski, who will be the new superintendent for the Chagrin Falls School District.

Penczarski has served as Kenton’s superintendent since 2010.

The Board also approved a contract for Shawn Stevens as Kenton Middle School Vocal Music, Remote Learning Support teacher for the next school year.

Several other items were also taken care of at the virtual meeting.

The next regular meeting is scheduled for June 21, though at least one more special meeting may be necessary to take care of routine end of school year personnel items.
