Kenton Varsity Softball falls to Lima Central Catholic 6 – 4

Saturday’s game against Lima Central Catholic was a heartbreaker for Kenton Varsity Wildcats, as they lost the lead late in a 6-4 defeat. The game was tied at four in the bottom of the sixth when Melana Badea homered to center field, scoring two runs.

Lima Central Catholic rallied for the victory despite trailing 4-0 in the third.

Kenton Varsity Wildcats got on the board in the top of the third inning after Brayla Butler doubled, scoring one run, Macee Heckathorn homered to left field, scoring two runs, and Alexis Ratliff scored after tagging up.

Lima Central Catholic tied the game in the bottom of the fifth thanks to a double by Emma Skinner, and a fielder’s choice by Maria Pignataro.

Skinner earned the win for Lima Central Catholic. The pitcher allowed two hits and two runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out seven and walking one. Peyton Rudasill took the loss for Kenton Varsity Wildcats. The reliever went one inning, allowing two runs on two hits, striking out one and walking one. Kylee Kavanagh led things off in the circle for Kenton Varsity Wildcats. The right-handed pitcher gave up four hits and four runs (zero earned) over five innings, striking out five and walking four. Sophia Hurley started the game for Lima Central Catholic. The pitcher surrendered three hits and two runs over two innings, striking out one and walking none.

Heckathorn drove the middle of the lineup, leading Kenton Varsity Wildcats with two runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Kenton Varsity Wildcats turned two double plays in the game.

Kenton Varsity Wildcats will travel to Van Wert for their next game on Monday.
