Kenton Wildcats Claim First Place at 2025 Division 1-4 State Powerlifting Championship

The 2025 Division 1-4 State Powerlifting Championship took place on Saturday at Kenton High School.

The Kenton Wildcats emerged victoriously, taking home first place with a staggering total of over 13,000 pounds.

The Wildcats’ impressive performance was a testament to the hard work and dedication of every lifter, resulting in a total team effort that earned them the top spot.

The Wildcats saw multiple individual placers across various weight classes, showcasing their depth and strength:

  • 145 lbs: Karson Sprang (10th), Amiel Huff (9th), Gavin Sealscott (4th)
  • 155 lbs: Carson Gordon (9th), Carson Delong (7th), Maddox Hommel (3rd)
  • 165 lbs: Xavier Gammon (11th)
  • 175 lbs: Jayden Mustain (2nd)
  • 185 lbs: Sergio Romero (9th), Maddux McFarlin (5th)
  • 210 lbs: Junior Wright (7th), Alex Rogel (1st)
  • 225 lbs: Zach Burroughs (2nd)
  • UNL (Unlimited Weight Class): Brennan Heberling (12th), Brison Laubis (10th), Trae Johnson (6th), Bill Wilkinson (3rd), Bob Wilkinson (1st)

The Wildcats also had two athletes who broke state records. Sophomore Jayden Mustain set a new state record with a 345-pound bench in the 175-pound weight class, while Senior Bob Wilkinson shattered the record with an impressive 800-pound squat in the UNL category.
