Three Kenton High School Juniors have won the Hardin County Optimist Club’s International Essay Contest.

Elijah Manns took home first place honors; second place honors went to Haley Hunt; and Kassundra Collins was awarded third prize.

The essay contest is sponsored by Optimist International to give young people the opportunity to write about their own opinions regarding the world in which they live. This year’s essay topic was: “Can Society Function without Respect?”

Students were limited to respond to this question in 700 to 800 words.  In addition to the opportunity for written expression, participants have the chance to win a college scholarship. As the first place winner, Elijah Manns’ essay will next advance to the district contest to compete for that scholarship award.
