WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) released the following statement after the House voted to fully fund the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund, or VCF. H.R. 1327, the Never Forget the Heroes: James Zadroga, Ray Pfeifer, and Luis Alvarez Permanent Authorization of the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund Act.

The bill ensures that the VCF is fully funded and will remain open for first responders and survivors who become ill in the future.

Latta said, “Since that fateful Tuesday, many 9/11 survivors and first responders have become ill and/or passed away due to prolonged exposure to powdered cement, drywall, and burning chemicals. After all they’ve been through and done for their community and country, we cannot turn our backs on them. Today, we reaffirmed our commitment to support them through their health challenges on behalf of a grateful nation.”
