The mayor of Lima delivered an impactful address during Ohio Northern University’s Martin Luther King chapel service last week.
Sharetta Smith was elected in November 2021 and is Lima’s first woman and first African American mayor. She is an Ohio Northern University Claude W. Pettit College of Law graduate, attorney, and City of Lima, OH – Government mayor.
In her remarks, Smith reflected upon the powerful words delivered by Dr. King at ONU in January 1968, just a few months before his assassination.
She encouraged the audience to be open to change, even though it’s often difficult.
