(UPDATE: Victim Has Been Identified) Man Dies After Being Stabbed in Ada Early Monday Morning

A stabbing in Ada claimed the life of a man during the overnight.

According to a release from Ada Police Chief Michael Harnishfeger, officers were called to 345 West Montford at around 12:15 in reference to a disturbance involving a knife.

Upon arrival, they discovered 49 year old Rodney A. Slechter, of Lima, who had been stabbed by another male subject who was still in the house trailer.

Officers rendered first aid to the victim of the stabbing, but Slechter died at that location.

The other male was transported to Lima Memorial Hospital where he was treated for injuries sustained during an altercation between the two.

At this point the Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification has been called to assist the Ada Police Department in processing the scene along with the Coroner’s Investigator.

No one has been arrested or charged pending the outcome of the investigation.

Authorities are not releasing the name of the other male as no charges have been filed at this time.
