The Palace Cultural Arts Association (PCAA) is pleased to announce movie weekends will return to the Marion Palace Theatre entertainment schedule.

On June 11, 12, and 13, the theatre will feature the animated comedy-adventure film “The Croods: A New Age,” along with the 2021 Academy Award Winning Best Picture, “Nomadland.”

The Palace Theatre is located at 276 W. Center Street in Marion, Ohio.

“Nomadland,” as described by Searchlight Pictures, follows the survival story of Fern (Frances McDormand) in Twenty-First Century America. After the economic collapse of a company town in rural Nevada, Fern packs her van and sets off on the road exploring a life outside of conventional society as a modern-day nomad. The third feature film from director Chloé Zhao, “Nomadland” features real nomads Linda May, Swankie and Bob Wells as Fern’s mentors and comrades in her exploration through the vast landscape of the American West.

“Nomadland” is rated R for some full nudity and runs 1 hour, 47 minutes. Show times are Friday, June 11 at 2 p.m.; Saturday, June 12 at 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, June 13 at 7:30 p.m. with open captions.

Universal Studios provides the following synopsis of “The Croods: A New Age.” The Croods need a new place to live. So, the first prehistoric family sets off into the world in search of a safer place to call home. When they discover an idyllic walled-in paradise that meets all their needs, they think their problems are solved except for one thing. Another family already lives there: the Bettermans. The Bettermans (emphasis on the “better”)—with their elaborate tree house, amazing inventions, and irrigated acres of fresh produce—are a couple of steps above the Croods on the evolutionary ladder.

This film is rated PG for peril, action, and rude humor. Running time is 1 hour, 35 minutes. Showtimes for “The Croods” are Friday, June 11 at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, June 12 at 2 p.m.; and Sunday, June 13 at 2 p.m.

Admission prices for movies are $4 for all ages and $2 for current 2020-2021 PCAA members presenting a valid membership card. Concessions are available and are reasonably priced. Items available for purchase include 20 oz. Pepsi products, popcorn, and boxed theatre candy for $2 each.

The Palace will continue to observe current safety guidelines. On June 2, 2021, Governor Mike DeWine and Ohio Department Health rescinded health orders pertaining to COVID 19. Masks are not required. The State continues to recommend them for un-vaccinated guests. When masks are worn, they may be removed for eating and drinking. Capacity restrictions and social distancing requirements are lifted.
