Betty C. Cross, a pillar of strength and warmth, passed away on February 21, 2025, at Primrose Retirement Community. Born in Forest, Ohio Hardin County on September 29, 1941, she was the daughter of Darrell and Gladys (Kaser) Humphrey. Betty married Ronald D. Cross on January 1, 1961 and he preceded her in death on March 5, 2015. They celebrated 54 years of marriage.
As a proud graduate of Forest High School in 1959, Betty took her first steps into the world, armed with a bright smile and an unwavering determination that would define her journey. In 2003, after 44 dedicated years as a laborer at United Air Production, she retired, leaving behind a legacy of hard work.
Betty found profound fulfillment in her role as a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Upper Sandusky. There, she blossomed as both a singer in the church choir and a committed participant in the Women Guild. She served on numerous church committees, her contributions reflecting her strong belief in community and fellowship. Her faith was a cornerstone in her life, illuminating her path and guiding her actions.
Simple joys filled Betty’s life; she cherished playing cards, enjoying games like Rummikub and Pennies with her dear friends. Her passion for tending to her roses demonstrated her nurturing spirit, while her collection of angels spoke of her gentle soul. Each hobby showcased Betty’s capacity for delight in life’s smaller moments and her ability to forge deep connections with those around her. Betty had a spirit that mirrored her personality—sweet, honest, and deeply devoted to her family.
Betty is survived by her beloved son, Michael (Suzy) Cross of Upper Sandusky, and her daughters Jodi (Frank Heinlen) Perkins of Sycamore and Jana (Jeff) Warner of Delaware. Her legacy continues to thrive through her 11 cherished grandchildren: Mickala Cross, Blake and Logan Perkins, Luke, Drew and Raquel Warner, Elizabeth Bennett, Emily Bennett, Victoria Huff, Rachel Heinlen Welch, and Megan Heinlen Miller. Additionally, her heart swells with love for her great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Lillian, and Brayden Warner, Reagan Miller, Creek Perkins, Easton Wilfer, Hayleigh Welch, and Blaine Welch, Kaison Miller, sisters Marlene McCleary, Upper Sandusky and Delores Haist, AZ, a sister-in-law Charolotte Humphrey, Ada, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Mona Kay and Max Kaelber, Holland.
