Obituary for David “Rex” Bolenbaugh

David “Rex” Bolenbaugh, 80 of Forest passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2025.  He was born on July 3, 1944, to Elmer and Beatrice (Albert) Bolenbaugh of Kenton.  He married Barbara Williams on December 15, 1983 and she survives along with his children; Joshua (Nikki) Waller of Forest, OH, Devon (Wendy) Hoyt of Pelion, SC, Jessica (Gregg Prenzlin) Wehrle of Bradner, OH, David (Misty) Bolenbaugh of Mt. Blanchard, OH, niece Carol Hill of Upper Sandusky, grandchildren; Tiffini, Brittini, Nick, Courtini, Cierra, Bailee, Mackena, Cayden, Serenity, Tyler, Huddson, Griffin, Hunter, Kaylyn, Mike, Olivia, Maggie, Brody, Carter and great grandchildren, Owen, Natailli, Lukas, Maci, Dolcey, Camden, Thomas, Lily, Jace, Aylah and Emmy.  He was preceded in death by his daughter, Dolcey Benner, parents, Elmer and Beatrice, brother, Paul Bolenbaugh, sister, Lois Gregory, nieces, Kathy, Cindy and nephew, Ricky.  

Rex was a 1962 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School.  He worked in industrial maintenance after high school. He went into the Air Force from 1966 – 1970.  He loved his family and especially his dog and best friend, Lucky for the last 14 years. His hobby’s kept him entertained for decades. He loved his motorcycles from an early age and had his HAM Radio license since high school. WA8DFC will be missed. 

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 31, 2025, from 3:00 – 7:00 PM at CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Arlington.  The funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at CRATES FUNERAL HOME where the family will receive friends from 12:00 PM Tuesday, until the time of service.  Burial will follow in Hueston Cemetery, Forest.   

The family would like to thank everyone at Bridge Hospice and Palliative Care, Dr. Jacobus and the nurses were amazing. We would also like to thank Dr. Alsaad and Armes Cancer Center and Dr. Chary and the Pulmonary nurses.  Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Rex to the Forest VFW Post 1182 or Cancer Patient Services.
