of Mt. Victory

A firefighters last rites service for Jerold “Jerry” Lee Taylor Jr will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, January 8, 2021 at the Mount Victory Fire Department. Friends and family may visit 2 hours prior to services at the fire department. Burial will follow at Hale Cemetery, just outside of Mt. Victory. Masks will be required for anyone who attends and social distancing should be practiced when possible. The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Mt. Victory is assisting the family with arrangements.

Jerry passed away on Monday, January 4, 2021 at his residence. He was born on May 10, 1960 in Newport, Rhode Island to the late Jerold and Blanche (King) Taylor. On July 18, 1988 he married Bertha Campbell and she survives in Mt. Victory.

Also surviving are a daughter; Jessica Taylor of Mt. Victory, a son; Jerold Taylor III of Mt. Victory, 2 sisters; Melissa (Jim) Austin of Kenton, Deanna (Dennis) Hancq of El Mirage, AZ, a brother; Paul (Beverly) Taylor of Mt. Victory, 2 grandchildren; Connor McKenzie, Delphine Taylor and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister; Barbara Clark.

Jerry was a 1979 graduate of Kenton High School and a member of the Kenton Kingdom Hall of Jehovas Witnesses.

He was U.S. Navy Veteran serving on the U.S.S. Detroit.

Jerry was a 19 year veteran of the SouthEast Hardin NorthWest Union Joint Fire District. He held many positions there, the last one being the department’s Safety Officer.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Not By Choice or the Mt. Victory Fire Department.
