Julia Alfreda “Freda” Treen, 96, of Kenton, died February 13, 2025, at Vancrest of Ada. She was born on October 17, 1928 in Belle Center, Ohio to the late Joseph Brown and Gertrude (Paugh) Yenny.
On October 21, 1946, she married William (Bill) Treen, and they were married for 66 years, until his death in 2013. She was the mother of one son, the late Larry Otis Treen.
She is survived by her three grandchildren, Christina (David) Amweg, Dwight (Jill) Treen, Chad (Leah) Treen, nine great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by brothers Kenneth Frederick Brown, Ralph Brown, Don Brown and sister Frances Lavon Pickering.
Freda graduated from Kenton High School in 1946 and later worked for Lords Department Store for over 25 years. She was a seamstress, making items for her family whom she loved very much. She enjoyed doing her own renovations both inside and outside the home. The family expresses deep gratitude to Vancrest of Ada for the exceptional care they provided.
Funeral services will be held at 12 pm, Monday, February 17, 2025 at SCHINDEWOLF-STOUT-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Kenton, with Rev. Eric Risner officiating. Burial will follow at Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Condolences may be expressed online at stoutcrates.com.
