A visitation for Rebecca Kay Evans will be held from 11:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton. Burial at Wolfcreek Cemetery will be private. Masks will be required and Covid-19 protocols should be followed at all services.

Kay died on Friday, May 14, 2021 at the St. Rita’s Hospital in Lima. She was born on April 4, 1939 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Lorain A. and Rebecca Kathryn (Tapp) Basinger. She married William L. “Bill”  Evans on August 29, 1958 and he survives in Kenton.

Also surviving are a daughter; Mary R. (Patsy) Evans of Baltimore, MD, 2 sons; Michael R. Evans of Findlay, Nathan (Dawna) Evans of Logan, 2 sisters; Patsy Merry of Estes Park, CO, Kathy (Tom) Oates of Lakeland, FLA, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother; Richard L. Basinger.

Kay was a 1957 graduate of Kenton High School. She then continued her education, receiving her bachelor’s degree in education from Ohio Northern University. This led her to have a 26 year career as an elementary school teacher for several different local schools.

Kay had a giving heart. She volunteered in the Hardin Memorial Hospital Emergency Room, as well as the Oncology Clinic in Kenton, trying her best to help people have a better day. She also worked with BKP as an EMT for many years. She was a member of the Silvercreek United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, and enjoyed singing with the Society Singers.

In her free time, she enjoyed writing poetry, painting and collecting antiques. Kay was a beloved wife, mother and friend to many, she will be deeply missed by those who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the donor’s choice.
