Obituary for Ruth E. Shirk

Ruth E. Shirk age 98 of Forest, died at Hardin Hills Health Center, Kenton on Apr. 6, 2021.

She was born Mar. 24, 1923 in Forest to the late Harry and Lulu (Inman) Peart.  She married Don Shirk on Sept 7, 1943, he preceded her in death on Sept. 5, 2007.  Mrs. Shirk is survived by a son Dean (Betty) Shirk, Forest, grandchildren Donnie Shirk, Upper Sandusky and Jackie Wilson, Forest, and 8 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by sisters Betty James and Mary Belle Schlatter.

She was a 1941 graduate of Forest High School.  She was a homemaker, also owner/operator of the former Shirk Market, Kirby.  Mrs. Shirk attended First Baptist Church, Kenton where she taught Sunday School, was a member of the Women’s Missionary Society and held Bible studies in her home. Mrs. Shirk was a former member of the Pythian Sisters Lodge, Forest and volunteered during the elections.

A graveside services will be held on Thurs. Apr. 8, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. in Hueston Cemetery with Pastor Craig Mansfield officiating.  Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice in care of Clark Shields Funeral Home 301 S.
