Funeral services for Virginia C. Shepherd will be private. Burial will take place at Grove Cemetery. The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton is assisting the family with arrangements. 

She died on Sunday, November 29, 2020 at Kenton Nursing and Rehab. She was born on October 24, 1924 in Forest to the late William and Ermil (Jones) Oates. She married Harold Hatcher and he preceded her in death, she then married Russell Shepherd and he also preceded her in death.

Surviving are a step-son; Bob (Nonja) Shepherd,a step-daughter-in-law; Dixie Shepherd, 6 step-grandchildren, nieces; Marsha Gardner, Deb Hord, nephews; Arhl Oates Jr, John Oates, Gary Oates, Tom Oates, and Bill Mabrey.

She was preceded in death by a step-son; Bill Shepherd, a sister; Madeline Mabrey, and 3 brothers; Harold Oates, Arhl Oates and Guy Oates.

Virginia worked as a clerk for the Hardin County Treasurer’s office.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Kenton.

She enjoyed taking her seasonal trips to Florida with her sister and having lunch and playing cards at the Senior Center.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Christian Church in Kenton.
