Funeral services for William Dean Oates will be private. Burial will take place at Grove Cemetery. The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
William died on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at the Hardin Hills Health Center in Kenton. He was born on November 5, 1944 in Kenton to the late Charles and Irena (Beach) Oates. On September 26, 1965 he married Connie Modd and she survives in Forest.
Also surviving are 3 sons; Todd (Dana) Oates of Kenton, Brian (Sara) Oates of Liberty Township, OH, Craig (Carol) Oates of Apex., NC, grandchildren; Dale and Claire Oates, Jacob, Joshua, and Kathryn Oates, Andrew, Olivia, and Jaclyn Oates, a brother; Eugene (Betty) Oates of Kenton, and a sister; Deborah (Darius) Isenbarger of Kenton. 
William was a 1962 Hardin Northern High School graduate.
He was a U.S. Army Reserve veteran.
William worked for Rockwell as a machinist for 39 years until his retirement in 2004. He also worked part time as a carpenter and a farmer and was a Hardin County Fair Honoree.
He was an avid OSU Fan and a lifelong Cleveland Indians Fan. He also enjoyed fishing and coon hunting.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Walnut Grove Church.
