The Ohio Department of Natural Resources released a rehabilitated bald eagle at Indian Lake State Park this week.

Wildlife Officer Brian Motsinger rescued the eagle on February 5.

It was suffering from a fracture and trauma sustained in a fight with another eagle over territory and a vehicle strike.

The eagle spent 40 days in rehabilitation at Crow’s Hollow, a non-profit organization located in Union County. Crow’s Hollow Wildlife Care team has a combined 48 years of rescuing and rehabilitating native Ohio wildlife and providing sound science to those inquiring how to best help animals in distress and prevent wildlife conflicts.

The Crow’s Hollow rehabilitators involved in the release of the bald eagle were Judith Vaughn and Barbara Ray.

After its release, the eagle flew across Indian Lake and looped back around toward his favorite roosting tree, then continued to soar over the adjacent fields for another 20 minutes.
