Due to the rapid spread of the Omicron variant and recent Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidance for vaccine status, Ohio Northern is incorporating several changes into the 2021-22 Safety Plan.

These changes are intended to continue our past success in meeting the challenges of COVID-19 by keeping our two primary guiding goals top of mind: 1) to provide faculty, staff and students (FS&S) a healthy and safe campus environment, and 2) to sustain campus operations for in-person learning, living and working on campus.

The key changes are listed below:

.Adopting the term “Up-To-Date Vaccination Status” to replace “Fully Vaccinated.” The effect of this change will mean that FS&S who are unvaccinated or not up-to-date (completed the primary series of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine more than six months ago OR the primary series of the J&J vaccine more than two months ago AND have not received a booster of any COVID-19 vaccine) will be required to participate in the weekly surveillance testing program.

.Adopting the new CDC guidance for Isolation for FS&S who test positive for COVID-19 and for Quarantine for FS&S exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID-19. This new guidance calls for shorter periods of isolation and quarantine.

.Maintaining the full scope of campus dining, however limiting the number of chairs per table and possibly increasing the number of tables in the McIntosh Activities Room.

.Eliminating concessions from indoor athletic events, prohibiting spectators from bringing food or beverages into indoor athletic events and rigorously enforcing the face covering requirement.

.Affirming and enforcing the indoor face covering requirement, especially during evening hours in academic buildings.
