Bad weather and seasonal illnesses impact blood donors all the time, but the coronavirus pandemic has added another big challenge in keeping the blood supply strong.

The American Red Cross is urging healthy individuals to make an appointment to give blood or platelets for upcoming blood drives.

The next one for Hardin County is scheduled for February 2 from 10am-4pm at Ada Visiting Nurses and Hospice.

Make an appointment by downloading the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visit RedCrossBlood.org, call 1-800-RED CROSS or enable the Blood Donor Skill on any Alexa Echo device.
