Arlington pulled away in the second half to break open a tight game and defeat Hardin Northern 61-32 in boys basketball play Saturday night.
The Polar Bears (4-12) led 11-10 late in the first quarter before Jaret Vermillion hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to put the Red Devils on top by two points. Arlington led by as many as 11 points in the second quarter before HN scored the final four points of the half to close to within 28-21 at intermission.
The Polar Bears scored the first bucket of the second half to make it 28-23 but the rest of the half belonged to the Red Devils (12-4). Arlington outscored Hardin Northern 14-1 over the rest of the third quarter to grab an 18-point lead and steadily added to their advantage in the fourth quarter.
Ivan Berry had a game-high 24 points for Arlington while Vermillion added 13 markers.
Devin Robson had 12 points for Hardin Northern.
