Rural Carey Man Arrested After a Domestic Argument Sunday

One person was arrested after a domestic disturbance that was reported to the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office early Sunday morning.

According to the report, deputies were dispatched to the 13,000 block of County Highway 16 in Carey to investigate the situation.

During the argument, the suspect allegedly took some items belonging to the victim into the yard and set them on fire, and then threw the victim out of the house and into the fire where she suffered burns to her legs.

He is also accused of holding a knife to the temple of the victim’s daughter when she tried to leave, telling her she wasn’t going anywhere.

The victim planned to drive herself to the hospital to have her injuries evaluated.

Deputies arrested the suspect, identified as Jason Vanscoy, and transported him to the Wyandot County Jail on a charge of felonious assault.

The information was presented to the Wyandot County Prosecutor for further proceedings.
