A telephone scam continues to target Wyandot County citizens.

The Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office stated that the caller will sometimes identify themselves as a deputy and tell the person they called that they did not show for a court hearing.

The caller may say they have a warrant for their arrest and want to take care of it by paying over the phone.

Somehow these callers are masking their phone number and using the Sheriff’s Office number to show up under the caller I.D.

The Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office reminded citizens that they will not call people about subpoenas or warrants.

They will also not request any type of payment over the phone.

People receiving those kinds of calls are encouraged to just hang up and do not give these callers any information.
