Hardin County Sheriff Keith Everhart this week advised people to be alert of possible human trafficking activity.

On the sheriff's office Facebook page, Everhart said a local business in the county had a truck driver stop to purchase food. The man asked a lot of very inquisitive questions in regards to everyone who was at the establishment. He also asked for assistance carrying his food order to his truck. While that may not be illegal, the sheriff said it does seem suspicious and raises red flags about human trafficking.

Sheriff Everhart said he encourages everyone to be suspicious of strangers and never put employees in a position to be alone with customers who are strangers.

He added that the threat of human trafficking is real and encouraged all to take it seriously.
