Single-Vehicle Crash Involving One-Year-Old Pedestrian in Springfield Being Investigated by Ohio State Highway Patrol

SPRINGFIELD – The Springfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a single-vehicle crash involving a one-year-old male juvenile pedestrian.

The crash occurred today, June 25, just after 7:00 p.m., in the 2700 block of Dale Avenue near Olds Avenue in Springfield Township, Clark County.

The preliminary investigation revealed a 2016 Dodge Dart, operated by Alexiya A. Payne, 21, Springfield, made a left turn out of a private drive to travel west onto Dale Avenue.

While completing the turn, the Dodge struck a one-year-old male juvenile pedestrian attempting to cross Dale Avenue.

At the time of the crash, the one-year-old male juvenile was in the roadway, traveling from south to north across Dale Avenue.

The one-year-old male juvenile was transported by ground ambulance with serious injuries to Mercy Health – Springfield Regional Medical Center, and then transported by air ambulance to Dayton Children’s Hospital.

Payne was not injured as a result of the crash.

The Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office and Springfield Township Fire Department & EMS.

The crash remains under investigation by the Springfield Post.
