Benjamin Logan Middle School received a voicemail message suggesting that a Benjamin Logan 6th grade student intended to bring a firearm to school today.

According to a release from Superintendent John Scheu, the message was received at around 8pm Tuesday night.

Following an immediate investigation by local law enforcement, it was determined that the caller was a 14-year-old student from Tennessee.

This student misrepresented themselves by using the name of a Benjamin Logan student.

Authorities in Tennessee, including the local law enforcement and the school of the involved student, have been alerted and are taking the necessary precautions..

Any potential charges will be determined by the prosecutor’s office in Tennessee.

The threat has been assessed and is not considered credible.

However, officials are taking every precaution, and any Benjamin Logan students found to have prior knowledge of the planned call will face appropriate consequences.

Ensuring the safety of students and staff is their highest priority.

The superintendent added that he appreciates the swift response of local authorities and the cooperation of the community in these matters.
