A burglary at a business in Findlay occurred early this morning.

According to a release from the Findlay Police Department, an employee at Casey’s in the 1400 block of North Main Street was working while the business was closed and called 9-1-1 to report a burglary in progress.

A male had broken the glass door and made entry.

A department K-9 unit was in the area and arrived as the suspect was climbing out the broken door with over $5000 worth of cigarettes.

He was ordered to stop but instead failed to comply with the officer’s commands.

The K-9 was deployed resulting in the suspect’s apprehension.

53 year old William J. Brewer Jr., of Toledo, was identified as the suspect, and he suffered an injury to his lower leg as a result of the K-9’s apprehension.

He was transported to the Blanchard Valley Hospital for treatment but due to the extent of the injury, he was transferred to St. Vincent Medical Center.
