A Marion teenager was killed in an accident involving a horse-drawn carriage and a train Marion County Wednesday afternoon.
According to a release from the Marion Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, 14-year-old Edward Gingerich lost control of the carriage while traveling north on County Road 5.
The horse crossed over a railroad track and struck the side of an eastbound CSX train.
Gingerich was ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene.
His body was transported to the Lucas County Coroner’s Office in Toledo.
The crash remains under investigation.
