Hardin Northern FFA recently had two teams compete in the State Spring Skills Contest, Agronomy and General Livestock.

First up, the Agronomy Team. The team members are Juniors Aubry Smith and Alyssa Heldman along with Freshmen Preston Grappy and Annemarie Minter. The team crushed their goal of placing in the top 10 of the state teams, placing 9th!!

The team will receive a plaque sponsored by The Ohio FFA Foundation at the State FFA Convention in May. Aubry was the team high individual stating that, “I am proud of the team for placing above our goal, meaning we get to attend a special reward trip with our advisor, Ms. Overs. I’m glad to see the freshman members join and have a strong first judging season.”

Second, the General Livestock Team. The team members are Junior, Katie Good, Sophomores, Makenna Eibling and Kylee Clem along with Freshman Kaden Guinn. The team came out placing in the upper half of the teams competing, 83rd of 179 teams.

Katie was the team high individual placing 54th out of 955 FFA members who judged. Katie had a strong day on the floor (placing the classes of livestock) and stated, “We saw decent quality livestock this year and I am proud to have only dropped 20 points out of 400 on the floor. I’m also proud of our turnout for the livestock team this year, I hope that we can continue improving and enhancing our judging skills in the coming years.”
